Vi Lyles Becomes Charlotte’s First African-American Female Mayor

A black woman just made history in North Carolina on yesterday’s 2017 Election Day. Vi Lyles, a 30-year public servant, mother, grandmother and Charlotte mayor pro tem [mayor in absence of the mayor], is now the city’s first African-American female mayor.

Lyles won with 58 percent of the vote, compared to 41 percent for City Councilman Kenny Smith.

Lyles celebrated her win with a message that read,

“It’s an incredible honor to be elected Mayor of Charlotte in such a historical election. As I’ve often said throughout my campaign, I can walk through any part of Charlotte, and I expect to be a mayor for all.”

Lyles previously worked as an analyst in the city’s budget department before becoming budget director. She was assistant city manager for the city from 1996 to 2004, according to CBS News.

Another day, another set of Tyrese social media antics. After Tyrese told the world that Will and Jada swooped in to give him $5 million to stay off social media and pay his child custody case legal fees, sources close to the power couple are debunking his statement.

TMZ reports that Tyrese’s $5 million Will and Jada claim “simply isn’t true” and the duo hasn’t give him a dime. What is true however, is that the couple’s reportedly extremely worried that Tyrese is having some sort of a breakdown.

Will and Jada’s worrying might have some clout to it if you take into consideration Black Ty’s latest rant.

The actor posted a looooooong Facebook video Tuesday where he revealed that he’s broke and openly wept for for men “rotting in jail without their children” while wearing Chuck Taylors in silent protest for them.

“I’m wearing these Chuck Taylors as a silent protest for all the men in all the ghettoes around the world who didn’t have the money to have better representation for their case and accusations,” said Tyrese. “This is my silent protest for all of the fathers who are in jail, just sitting in a f**** cage just rotting, just there, f*** rotting. You got pictures of your kids up on all the wall—you didn’t do nothing!” Even if they try to take me out they’ll never be able to stop this video from being released.”

He also promoted his “Shayla Rocks” single, his Voltron travel site and told the world that he’d “like to stay married” to his pregnant wife Samantha Lee. In order to do that, Tyrese is requesting the help of the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Priscilla Zuckerberg.

Veteran NY shake dancer Gizelle Marie has been single-handedly leading the strike amongst strippers in the area, and says she has become persona non grata because of it.

“I have been banned from the urban clubs like Starlets, Lust, Angels and Traphouse in New York. Right now, I am not working, but I have been really smart with my money so I have some cash saved. I am so focused on this strike because it became like a new job to me. I am not the only one . . . There are other dancers behind me, and no one knows who they are, and we are going to keep it that way because they are afraid to lose their jobs.”

If you’ll recall, the strike began because clubs were treating darker skinned and Black strippers with much more disdain than fair or Latina girls, refusing them access to the stages and VIP areas. In addition, all dancers are being pushed to the side for bartenders, who are equally scantily clad, often dance as well, and often aren’t even licensed to bartend — just popular “IG models” with a big thirsty following that will turn out to the club to see them in real life.

Now, Gizelle says girls are getting hit over the head with insane $150 or more fees to even have the privilege of popping it…especially if a celebrity is expected during the evening.

“Managers are now raising house fees for dancers….The other night Fabolous was booked for a club, and the entry fee for dancers was $200.

Years ago, girls could make thousands in one night. But now, girls are paying large house fees depending on the event.”

Man, looks like stripping isn’t the lucrative tuition-payer it was, once upon a time — at least not in color struck NYC clubs.

Rob Kardashian Claps Back At Chyna’s Abuse Claims

After Blac Chyna filed a lawsuit against the whoooooooole Kardashian clan, sources close to her baby’s father are clapping back. As previously reported Chyna claims that those pesky Kardashians interfered with the shooting of season 1 of “Rob & Chyna,” and used their “power and influence” to kill the second season.

Furthermore, she’s blaming them for a physical altercation in April where Rob allegedly pushed her down and snatched her phone.

Now sources close to Rob are clapping back and claiming that Chyna’s Lisa Bloom assisted suit is as fake as her plastic parts. According to TMZ who we all know is in the Kardashian’s back pocket, Chyna was the aggressor in a “cocaine-fueled rage” after having an all-day drug and alcohol binge.

The source tells the site that after Chyna allegedly did cocaine and drank excessively on the April day in question, she and Rob went to a strip club and Chyna brought a stripper home where the drinking and drugging continued.

While Chyna continued partying, Rob was reportedly on daddy duty watching King Cairo and Dream all night. The next morning he allegedly kicked the stripper out and called Chyna “irresponsible” which is when things allegedly went left.

“He claims she went ballistic, hitting him, throwing things at him and berating him. Rob insists he only defended himself and never struck her.
The sources say Rob actually had an appointment that day with the L.A. County Dept. of Children and Family Services, which had an open case against Chyna. He says he protected her by not mentioning the incident.”

Shawn Holley, the Kardashian lawyer, released a statement to TMZ saying,

“We have witness statements and other evidence which will demonstrate conclusively that it is Chyna — not Rob — who is the violent and aggressive abuser.”

This is only going to get messier and we’re SURE the Kardashian cameras are going to catch all this drama.

Another day, another deplorable action by y’all’s disgusting President. Florida Rep Frederica Wilson is exposing Trump for a phone call he made to the pregnant widow of a fallen soldier in Niger.

According to the Congresswoman who listened to the phone call on speaker phone, Mango Mussolini told Myeshia Johnson, the widow of Sgt. La David T. Johnson who was killed in an ambush alongside three Green Berets, “he knew what he signed up for …but when it happens it hurts anyway.”

The NYDN reports that Myeshia then got off the phone with the Deplorable In Chief met her husband’s remains at Miami International Airport, draped herself over his casket and sobbed as their two children, ages 2 and 6, stood nearby.

Congresswoman Wilson is continuing to air out Trump for his insensitive remarks and she now claims that he didn’t even know the soldier’s name.

Trump claims he has proof that the Congresswoman is lying, but we all know that’s just another fabrication from this Hellman’s Hell Boy.

Barack and Michelle Obama have selected two artists that will paint their portraits–artists Kehinde Wiley and Amy Sherald have been chosen to execute the task. The official portraits will be housed at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery, Kehinde Wiley is going to be painting Barack’s portrait while Amy Sherald will have the honor of painting Michelle.

​Wiley, is a New York-based portrait painter known for painting grandiose portraits of black people and coupling them with very colorful and proud backdrops. A lot of Kehinde’s work is inspired by Renaissance masters​, and he often incorporates hip-hop within his works. The artist has created pieces that feature Ice T, LL Cool J​, Swizz Beatz, Spike Lee, and other famous figures.

 Amy Sherald is an American painter based out of Baltimore, Maryland​. Her work is known to touch on social justice issues and is included in public collections located everywhere including The United States Embassy Dakar in Senegal, The National Museum of African American History and Culture, The National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C., and  FTI Technologies Inc. in Baltimore.
Both portraits will be revealed sometime in 2018. In the meantime, flip to the next page to see some of Amy Sherald and Kehinde Wiley’s amazing work.
